Two Tritons off to 2012 Canadian Olympic Swim Trials
Wolfville, NS - Two swimmers from the Valley are headed off to Montreal, QC this weekend for the upcoming 2012 Canadian Olympic & Paralympic Swimming Trials.
Acadia Axeman & Wolfville Tritons alumnus Luc Boudreau, age 20, and current Triton Rebecca MacPherson, age 15, have both qualified for Canadian swimming's marquee event, beginning Tuesday, March 27, 2012 and running until Sunday, April 1, 2012.
"This is the biggest meet I've ever been to, so I'm really excited to see all of the swimmers who make the team," said MacPherson. This will be her first ever senior national level event, having qualified earlier this month.
"I've been to Seniors (nationals) before, but this is different. It has a different feel to it I guess, because it only happens once every four years," added Boudreau.
The event will take place in the Olympic Pool, a legacy from Montreal's 1976 Olympic Games, and will mirror the Olympic swimming order of events set for London this July.
All six nights of swimming will air live on Sportsnet through the course of the meet. It is a first for Swimming Canada to air in live coverage on a major Canadian media outlet every night.
In addition to the 6.5 hours of live coverage, Société Radio Canada (SRC) will air highlights shows (2x2hours) of the event on its national French network the following two Saturdays.
