Tritons Poised for Performance at NS Team Champs
Wolfville, NS - Thirty swimmers from the Wolfville Tritons Swim Club are poised to race in the final swim meet of 2011 this weekend at the 2011 Swim Nova Scotia Team Championships.
According to Tritons head coach Chris Stone, the weekend should be a successful one for the valley's leading competitive swim program.
"The set up of the meet allows for each club attending to break off into smaller teams of a maximum of 20 swimmers (10 male & 10 female) to compete head to head," said Stone.
"Without the added numbers to help buoy the scores for some of the larger clubs, that puts everyone on an even playing field, and allows the smaller clubs like ours to have a very good chance of winning," Stone added.
Several Tritons alumni will also be competing in this weekend's swimming along side current Tritons. Ceilidh MacPherson and Mary Claire Lynch, now studying at Dalhousie University will be back, as will Luc Boudreau and Eliza McGuire, who swim for Acadia University.
"We're really looking forward to a great weekend of racing," said Tritons swimmers' representative Kristen MacPherson.
"We've been working really hard for the past 3 and a half months, so we're all really excited to race well this weekend," she added.
Swimming begins Friday morning at Dalplex Pool in Halifax at 9am, and runs until Sunday night. Session times and online results can be found at www.swimnovascotia.com.
