Boudreau Wins Second Silver of Canadian Age Group Swim Champs

Winnipeg, MB - The Wolfville Tritons Swim Club's Luc Boudreau won his second silver of the 2010 Canadian Age Group Swimming Championships on Friday in Winnipeg, MB.

The 18 year old from New Minas finished second in the 17-18 year old boys' 100m Breaststroke with a new personal best of 1:05.78.

This was Boudreau's second silver medal of the meet, having placed second in the 50m Breaststroke on Wednesday during the opening day of the five day competition.

"I was able to take off over two seconds from my old personal best mark, and was just off of the senior (18 years of age and older) provincial record, so I'm pretty happy," said the swimmer.

Tritons' head coach Chris Stone was also pleased with the swim.

"Luc has long been one of the best breaststrokers in Atlantic Canada and has seen a fair bit of success at the national level, so this will be a good boost of confidence heading into next week's Pan Pacific Trials in Victoria, and next season with Acadia" said Coach Stone, who is also the Acadia Swimming head coach.

The other Tritons competing in the meet all had a good day, with Brendan Vibert turning in a new personal best of his own in the 14 year old boys' 100m Breaststroke, while teammate Sarah Lynch was just shy of her own personal best in the same event for the 16-18 year old girls category.

Rounding out the day's performances were Hayden Adams' 27.02 second swim in the 15 year old boys' 50m Freestyle, just over his personal best mark, and Colin Vibert dropping 19 seconds to lower his personal best in the boys' 800m Freestyle with a time of 9:28.15.

Competition resumes Saturday morning and finishes off on Sunday at the Pan Am Pool in Winnipeg, MB.
