Seven Tritons to Compete at Summer National Meets
Wolfville, NS - Fresh on the heals of their teammates' success at the 2010 Long Course East Coast Championships in Newfoundland earlier this month, seven swimmers with the Wolfville Tritons Swim Club will be competing at one of two national level swim meets over the coming two weeks.
Five Tritons will be traveling to Winnipeg, MB to swim in the 2010 Canadian Age Group Championships from July 21-25. Hayden Adams, Luc Boudreau, Sarah Lynch, Brendan Vibert and Colin Vibert will all be swimming in the 5 day meet. Adams, Lynch and Brendan Vibert will all be rookies at the meet, with this being their first national level competition.
"All five of the swimmers attending have been working very hard all season, so I'm sure we'll see some great performances from everyone," said WTSC Head Coach Chris Stone.
"With this many attending their first national level competition, there's a lot of excitement about taking this first step into a much bigger pool of competition than they're used to," Stone added.
The following week, Boudreau will meet up with teammates Nicole Campbell and Ceilidh MacPherson as the three compete in the 2010 Summer Nationals, held in Victoria, BC July 28-31. This meet will serve as the second and final selection meet for the 2010 Canadian Pan Pacific team, who will compete in the 2010 Pan Pacific Championships in Irvine, CA, USA in August.
"Training with a many of the national team members back in May at the National Swim Centre in Vancouver was a big confidence boost," said WTSC Swimmers' Representative Ceilidh MacPherson.
"With that experience under our belts, we all are really excited about the upcoming meet," she added.
This will be the final meet for both MacPherson and Boudreau as age group members of the Tritons, as both graduate this year.
MacPherson will be pursuing studies at Dalhousie University in Halifax and swimming the Dal Tigers in the fall, while Boudreau remains close to home to attend Acadia University and swim with the Acadia Axemen, also coached by Stone.
