Four Tritons Gear Up for Canada Games
Wolfville, NS - Four swimmers with the Wolfville Tritons Swim Club are in the final stages of preparation for the 2009 Summer Canada Games, hosted in Charlottetown, PEI.
Luc Boudreau, Nicole Campbell, Mary Claire Lynch and Ceilidh MacPherson have all been named to Team Nova Scotia's swim team, with Kristen MacPherson standing by as the first alternate for the womens' team. Tritons Head Coach, Chris Stone, has also been named as one of the assistant coaches for Team NS.
"We're all very excited and looking forward to a great meet," said Ceilidh MacPherson, WTSC Swimmers' Representative.
"Training all summer long has been a sacrifice, but it will all be worth it to travel to the Games and represent the province," she went on to say.
Nova Scotia is looking poised to have one of its best ever showings in the pool at the Games said Stone.
"Many of the swimmers on the team have been at the top of the sport nationally for a while now, so I'm confident that Nova Scotia will put in several top performances," he said.
Wolfville's swimmers will be very much a part of those performances. During a recent time trial, Boudreau set two provincial records in the 50m and 100m breaststroke, while Lynch, MacPherson and Campbell all posted personal bests. Boudreau and Campbell are also national champions in breaststroke and freestyle events respectively.
Team Nova Scotia's swimmers will be traveling to Moncton, NB for a week-long staging camp from August 16-23 before traveling to PEI for the second week of the Games. Swimming will be held August 24-29 at the CARI Complex in Charlottetown, PEI.
