Call for Volunteers at 2009 Eastern Canadian Swim Championships
Thursday through Sunday, February 12-15th, Nova Scotia is hosting the Speedo Eastern Canadian Swim Championships at Dalplex in Halifax. There are preliminary and final sessions on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, along with one session Thursday.
On Thursday - Sunday (morning session), we are doubled ended, meaning we will require 32 timers for each session. We will require 16 timers for the evening session. We also require many volunteer runners.
Older swimmers can do timing or be runners (One of the jobs is to stand behind the starting blocks and keep the block dry with a towel). Parents can also do both. Younger swimmers can also act as runners.
Don’t have a timer’s clinic? Halifax Trojans are offering to hold a level 1 Timer clinic to those interested. What a great opportunity to see some great swimming up close.
In exchange for volunteering, you can get a T Shirt. It would be great for teams to get enough timers and volunteers together to time a session.
Competition Start Times:
Thursday February 12th: 1200hrs warm-up, 1330hrs start
All other days’ heats: 0730hrs warm-up, 0900hrs start
All other days’ finals: 1630hrs warm-up, 1800hrs start
Anyone wishing to help as a timer can contact whudson@staff.ednet.ns.ca or if you wish to volunteer at other things contact Swim Nova Scotia swimming@sportnovascotia.ca
