Correction - WTSC Executive Meeting

The notice sent earlier this evening re: WTSC General Membership meeting was incorrect. This month's meeting is an executive meeting. The next WTSC General Membership meeting will be May 13, 2009.

Pilates Rescheduled for 11 & Overs

There have been two additional pilates sessions scheduled for Saturday mornings for those swimmers in the Black, Junior and Senior squads who have been attending.

WTSC Easter Egg Hunt

The annual WTSC Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Wednesday, April 8th from 4:00-5:30pm outside of the Acadia Athletics Complex. Younger swimmers will be paired with older swimmers as they search for easter eggs outside, and will then play some games out doors.

NO SWIMMING OVER MARCH BREAK

All Triton swimmers are reminded that there will be no swimming over March Break. The last day of swimming before the break will be Saturday, March 14, and practices will resume on their normal schedule on Monday, March 23rd.

WTSC Social

All Triton swimmers, parents, friends and family members are invited for an afternoon of bowling at Fairlanes Bowling Alley in New Minas on Sunday, March 8th starting at 2pm. We will also be ordering pizza while we are there.

Participants are asked to please bring $10-15 to help cover the cost of lane rental, shoes and pizza.

We hope to see all of you there!

Short Course East Coast Warm Up Times

All swimmers and parents attending Short Course East Coast Championships in Charlottetown, PEI are asked to take note of the following warm up times for each day:

Thursday, Feb 26 - 3:00-4:00pm

Friday, Feb 27 - 7:30-8:10am & 4:45-5:40pm

Saturday, Feb 28 - 8:10-8:50am & 5:00-6:00pm

Sunday, March 1 - 7:30-8:10am & 4:00-5:00pm

Warm Up Time Change for FL Sprint Meet

Please note that the FL Sprint Meet hosted by HTAC this Saturday between sessions of Easterns will start 30 minutes earlier.

Warm ups will begin at 11:45am and the meet will begin and 12:30pm (NOT 1:00pm as previously posted).

All swimmers taking part should be on deck and ready for warm up by 11:30am Saturday morning.

Call for Volunteers at 2009 Eastern Canadian Swim Championships

Thursday through Sunday, February 12-15th, Nova Scotia is hosting the Speedo Eastern Canadian Swim Championships at Dalplex in Halifax. There are preliminary and final sessions on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, along with one session Thursday.

Change in WTSC Executive Meeting

The February meeting of the WTSC Executive has been moved from Wednesday, Feb 11th to Wednesday, Feb 18th.

The meeting will still be held at New Minas Elementary and begin at 7:00pm.

Friday Time Trial Reminder

A reminder to all Tritons families that due to the Time Trial on Friday, Jan 30 at CFB Greenwood, there will be NO PRACTICE AT ACADIA for that afternoon.

The time trial is open to all swimmers on the club in every group. It will start at 4:30pm and run until 7:00pm in the evening.

Age Group National Pre-Qualifying Standards

AGE GROUP NATIONAL PRE-QUALIFYING STANDARDS

In accordance with the Swimming Canada Long Term Athlete Development competition policy and endorsed by all provincial Sections, Swimming Canada is instituting "Pre-Qualifying Standards" for Age Group Nationals, effective immediately.

Municipality Seeks Input From Local Community

The Municipality of Kings is seeking input from its residents to help develop its long term vision, entitled "Look Off 2030."

While everyone is welcome to weigh in on the 15 question survey, the Municipality is very interested in the thoughts of local youth!

Time Trial Friday Jan 30 at CFB Greenwood

The Wolfville Tritons and the Greenwood Dolphins will be running a joint Time Trial at CFB Greenwood on Friday, January 30 from 4:30-7:30pm.

The Time Trial will be prefaced with a starts clinic before moving on to the Time Trial. All Tritons of all ages are invited to attend.

Volunteers for Eastern Canadian Championships Feb 12-15 2009

Swim Nova Scotia is seeking volunteers for the 2009 Eastern Canadian Swimming Championships, hosted Feb 12-15 at the Dalplex.

Come support the Tritons as a volunteer and watch some national calibre swimming here in Nova Scotia!

Swim NS islooking for approximately 20 enthusiastic swimmers to help with the following duties during finals*:

* Award presentations
* Ready room/march out

Tuesday Mental Training Sessions

The Tuesday Mental Training Sessions will resume for the winter term on the following dates:

Tues, Jan 20, 6:00-7:00pm

Tues, Feb 3, 6:00-7:00pm

Tues, Feb 17, 6:00-7:00pm

Tues, Mar 3, 6:00-7:00pm

Each session will be run in Classroom 209 of the Acadia Athletics Complex, and is run on an optional participation basis for swimmers in the Black, Junior and Senior training squads.

Tritons' Parent Meetings

All Triton parents are invited to the following schedule "meet the coach" meetings next week. Meetings will be held in the upstairs seating area above the Main Gym.

This is a great opportunity for parents to meet their swimmer's coach and ask any questions they might have of the squad and head coach.

Saturday Morning Pilates

Coach Kristy has been able to arrange for a certified pilates instructor to come and conduct a few classes for swimmers in the Black, Junior and Senior groups on Saturday mornings over the coming weeks.

Pilates is an excellent flexibility and core strength development exercise, similar to yoga. All swimmers who wish to take part must pay $20.00 for the following four sessions:

Holiday Practice Cancellations

Hi Everyone,

During the Holiday Break, we are bound to have some winter weather here and there. Given that school is out now, our practice cancellation policy has to be amended slightly.

Wolfville Tritons Christmas Party Postponed

The Wolfville Tritons Swim Club Christmas Party, planned for tonight, Wednesday December 17th from 5:30-7:00pm at New Minas Elementary School has been postponed due to the weather.

The party has been re-scheduled and re-located to tomorrow, Thursday, December 18th from 5:00-7:00pm at the Hall of Fame Room in the Acadia Athletics Complex.

Reminder of Practice Time Change

This is a reminder to all Triton families that due to exams at Acadia University, WTSC has to adjust its training schedule from December 8-19.

For the next two weeks, WTSC be swimming during the the 5:00-7:00pm time block. Practice times for all groups will be held one hour later than normal during this period.

Please speak with your squad coach if you have any questions.

Holiday Break for Blue & White Training Squads

With the Holiday Break almost here, the swimmers in the Blue & White Training squads will be taking a break in their training to enjoy the Holidays with their family and friends.

Swimmers in the Blue & White Training Squads will have their last practice of 2008 on Friday, Dec 19. Their first practice in the new year will be on Monday, January 5, 2009.

Holiday Training Schedule

With the Holiday break fast approaching, this is an excellent opportunity for the older swimmers of the club to get in some extra time at the pool during the break.

WTSC Time Trial Wednesday Dec 3

The Wolfville Tritons will be hosting a time trial on Wednesday, December 3 from 4:00-6:00pm at the Acadia Pool.

Time trials are very similar to a swim meet, and allow swimmers of all ages to come together and get some racing in while in a comfortable and familiar environment.

WTSC Training Schedule December 8-19

Due to exams at Acadia University, WTSC will have to adjust its training schedule during the period of December 8-19. For those two weeks, WTSC will have the 5:00-7:00pm time block.

Practice times for all groups will be held one hour later than normal during this period.

Last Minute Christmas Equipment Order

Hello Triton Families,

Sue Jackson, WTSC Equipment Manager, is planning to run one last order for hoodies, etc for the Christmas season. In order for the order to be processed in time for Christmas, orders must be into Sue by November 29 - NO EXCEPTIONS!

Warm Up Times for DCSC Invitational

Due to the size of the sessions (300 swimmers) at the Dartmouth Invitational Swim Meet this coming weekend, the meet management has decided to split the warm up for both Saturday sessions and the Sunday session.

WTSC will have the following times for warm ups on the weekend:

Friday PM - 4:30-5:30PM (Only Warm-Up)

Saturday AM - 7:30-8:00AM (2nd Warm Up)

Storm Cancellation Policy

Hello Triton Families,

With winter fast approaching, WTSC wanted to make sure that everyone was aware of its policy regarding weather related cancellations.

Saturday Pilates

Coach Kristy has spoken with a local pilates instructor about the possibility of running one or two sessions per month for our 11 & over swimmers (Black, Junior & Senior Squads).

SC East Coast Hotel Room Bookings

Diane Porskamp has been kind enough to book a block of rooms for all Tritons attending Short Course East Coasts in Charlottetown February 26 - March 1, 2009.
