Tritons Shine in Greenwood Meet

Wolfville, NS - 11 swimmers from the Wolfville Tritons competed in the April Future League Festival in Greenwood this past weekend.

WTSC PRACTICE SCHEDULE RETURNS TO NORMAL APRIL 27

ALL WTSC SWIMMERS AND FAMILIES PLEASE TAKE NOTE

WTSC Practices will be returning to their usually scheduled time slot of 4:00-6:00pm on Monday, April 27 2009.

Practice times will be as follows for each training squad:

White Training Squad - 4:00 - 4:45pm M/W/F

Blue Training Squad - 4:00 - 5:00pm M/W/F

Wolfville Tritons Spring Mini-Session

The Wolfville Tritons Swim Club is pleased to announce that they will be running their pre-competitive swim program again this spring. This program is an excellent introduction to competitive swimming, covering all four competitive strokes and other related skills.

Four Tritons Named to 2009 Nova Scotia Canada Games Team

Halifax, NS - Four swimmers from the Wolfville Tritons Swim Club have been named to Team Nova Scotia for competition at the 2009 Canada Summer Games in Prince Edward Island.

Practice Change Reminders

All WTSC families are asked to please note the following changes to the schedule:

1) White & Blue Training Groups will not be swimming on Easter Monday, April 13, 2009.

2) Practice times change to the 5:00-7:00pm time slot for the next two weeks, April 13-24, 2009 due to exams at Acadia University.

Schedule for Easter Weekend

All WTSC swimmers and families are asked to note the White & Blue Training Squads will not be swimming over Easter weekend.

However, the Black, Junior and Senior squads WILL all be swimming as per their regular schedule.

Swimmers who cannot make practices due to family or other commitments are asked to please let their coach know.

CHANGE TO WTSC PRACTICE SCHEDULE APRIL 13-24

***ALL WTSC SWIMMERS AND FAMILIES PLEASE TAKE NOTE***

The period of April 13-24 will be exam period at Acadia University, and will require all WTSC practices to be moved ahead one hour for those two weeks.

Practice times for each group are listed below for the April 13-24 period:

WHITE TRAINING GROUP - 5:00-5:45pm M/W/F

BLUE TRAINING GROUP - 5:00-6:00pm M/W/F

Campbell wins Top Honors from Swim NS

Halifax, NS - Nicole Campbell has won the title of Female Swimmer of the Year from Swim Nova Scotia. The annual award, voted upon by the province's swim coaches, was announced yesterday in Halifax.

Campbell, a 15 year old swimmer with the Wolfville Tritons Swim Club, has had a year of very impressive performances according to Tritons head coach Chris Stone.

Correction - WTSC Executive Meeting

The notice sent earlier this evening re: WTSC General Membership meeting was incorrect. This month's meeting is an executive meeting. The next WTSC General Membership meeting will be May 13, 2009.

Pilates Rescheduled for 11 & Overs

There have been two additional pilates sessions scheduled for Saturday mornings for those swimmers in the Black, Junior and Senior squads who have been attending.

WTSC Easter Egg Hunt

The annual WTSC Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Wednesday, April 8th from 4:00-5:30pm outside of the Acadia Athletics Complex. Younger swimmers will be paired with older swimmers as they search for easter eggs outside, and will then play some games out doors.

NO SWIMMING OVER MARCH BREAK

All Triton swimmers are reminded that there will be no swimming over March Break. The last day of swimming before the break will be Saturday, March 14, and practices will resume on their normal schedule on Monday, March 23rd.

All Triton swimmers, parents, friends and family members are invited for an afternoon of bowling at Fairlanes Bowling Alley in New Minas on Sunday, March 8th starting at 2pm. We will also be ordering pizza while we are there.

Participants are asked to please bring $10-15 to help cover the cost of lane rental, shoes and pizza.

Tritons Finish Second at 2009 East Coast Championships

Charlottetown, PEI - The Wolfville Tritons Swim Club have finished in their best placing ever at the 2009 East Coast Short Course Championships. The team of nineteen swimmers ranging in ages from 11 to 19 finished in second place overall at the largest swim meet of Atlantic Canadian Swimmers.

Tritons head coach Chris Stone was very happy with the team's performances this weekend.

Tritons Continue Push at East Coast Champs

Charlottetown, PEI - The Wolfville Tritons Swim Club continued to post top notch performances at the 2009 Short Course East Coast Championships in Charlottetown, PEI on Saturday evening. Nineteen Tritons have traveled to the four day long swimming event, hosted at the CARI Aquatics Complex, site of the 2009 Summer Canada Games.

Tritons Put In Strong Showing on Second Day of Championships

Charlottetown, PEI - The Wolfville Tritons Swim Club continued to build on it's performances on the second day of competition at the 2009 East Coast Short Course Championships, being held in Charlottetown, PEI this weekend. After the Friday finals session, WTSC sits in second place overall out of over 30 swim clubs from across Eastern Canada.

Great Opening Night for Tritons at Short Course East Coast Champs

Charlottetown, PEI - The Wolfville Tritons had a strong showing at the opening night of the 2009 Short Course East Coast Championships. The Wolfville swim club sits in the number one position after the first day of competition at the largest swim meet in Atlantic Canada of the year, with nearly 400 swimmers from Ontario to Newfoundland converging on Charlottetown to swim.

All swimmers and parents attending Short Course East Coast Championships in Charlottetown, PEI are asked to take note of the following warm up times for each day:

Thursday, Feb 26 - 3:00-4:00pm

Friday, Feb 27 - 7:30-8:10am & 4:45-5:40pm

Saturday, Feb 28 - 8:10-8:50am & 5:00-6:00pm

Sunday, March 1 - 7:30-8:10am & 4:00-5:00pm

Wolfville Tritons Practice Canceled for February 19 2009

The Wolfville Tritons Swim Club will not be having practice for the afternoon of Thursday, February 19 2009 due to hazardous weather and road conditions.

Practices should resume as usual on Friday, February 20 2009.

Tritons Put On Impressive Showing at National Meet

Halifax, NS - The Wolfville Tritons Swim Club posted some impressive results at the 2009 Eastern Canadian Swimming Championships over the February 12-15 weekend. The meet, hosted by Swim Nova Scotia in Halifax, showcased some of Canada’s best swimming talent, and several swimmers from the Tritons were front and centre in the meet.

Warm Up Time Change for FL Sprint Meet

Please note that the FL Sprint Meet hosted by HTAC this Saturday between sessions of Easterns will start 30 minutes earlier.

Warm ups will begin at 11:45am and the meet will begin and 12:30pm (NOT 1:00pm as previously posted).

All swimmers taking part should be on deck and ready for warm up by 11:30am Saturday morning.

Nine Tritons to Attend 2009 Eastern Canadian Swim Championships

Wolfville, NS – Nine swimmers with the Wolfville Tritons Swim Club are preparing to compete at the 2009 Easterns Canadian Swimming Championships from February 12-15.

Call for Volunteers at 2009 Eastern Canadian Swim Championships

Thursday through Sunday, February 12-15th, Nova Scotia is hosting the Speedo Eastern Canadian Swim Championships at Dalplex in Halifax. There are preliminary and final sessions on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, along with one session Thursday.

Afternoon Practice Cancelled for Tuesday, Feb 3 2009

The afternoon practice for the Wolfville Tritons Swim Club for Tuesday, February 3 2009 has been cancelled due to the deteriorating weather conditions.

Practices will resume as usual tomorrow, Wednesday February 4 2009.

Change in WTSC Executive Meeting

The February meeting of the WTSC Executive has been moved from Wednesday, Feb 11th to Wednesday, Feb 18th.

The meeting will still be held at New Minas Elementary and begin at 7:00pm.

Friday Time Trial Reminder

A reminder to all Tritons families that due to the Time Trial on Friday, Jan 30 at CFB Greenwood, there will be NO PRACTICE AT ACADIA for that afternoon.

The time trial is open to all swimmers on the club in every group. It will start at 4:30pm and run until 7:00pm in the evening.

Age Group National Pre-Qualifying Standards

AGE GROUP NATIONAL PRE-QUALIFYING STANDARDS

In accordance with the Swimming Canada Long Term Athlete Development competition policy and endorsed by all provincial Sections, Swimming Canada is instituting "Pre-Qualifying Standards" for Age Group Nationals, effective immediately.

Municipality Seeks Input From Local Community

The Municipality of Kings is seeking input from its residents to help develop its long term vision, entitled "Look Off 2030."

While everyone is welcome to weigh in on the 15 question survey, the Municipality is very interested in the thoughts of local youth!

Time Trial Friday Jan 30 at CFB Greenwood

The Wolfville Tritons and the Greenwood Dolphins will be running a joint Time Trial at CFB Greenwood on Friday, January 30 from 4:30-7:30pm.

The Time Trial will be prefaced with a starts clinic before moving on to the Time Trial. All Tritons of all ages are invited to attend.

Volunteers for Eastern Canadian Championships Feb 12-15 2009

Swim Nova Scotia is seeking volunteers for the 2009 Eastern Canadian Swimming Championships, hosted Feb 12-15 at the Dalplex.

Come support the Tritons as a volunteer and watch some national calibre swimming here in Nova Scotia!

Swim NS islooking for approximately 20 enthusiastic swimmers to help with the following duties during finals*:
